Lawrence Miller, a native Californian, holds an M.A. in Art History from San Jose State University, with advanced studies at U.C. Berkeley, Rhode Island School of Design, and LA Art Center, Pasadena.
Larry is considered one of California’s foremost landscape painters; indeed, his name and images have become nearly synonymous with the Monterey Peninsula. His exhibitions have included the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Oakland Museum, many one-man shows including Portnoy Gallerie in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Linda Farris Gallery, Seattle. His work has been featured in noted San Francisco galleries; Maxwell Galleries, Pomeroy Galleries, and H.P. Corwith Gallery.
Miller’s sepia-toned painting of Bob Feller hands in the permanent collection of the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.
As with his series of baseball legends, he also created many other limited collections focused on subjects including birds, Italian architecture, England, storefronts in downtown Oakland, among others.
His work is widely held across the US by private collectors, and corporate collections of Chevron, PG&E, Mission Insurance, the Public Information Office of the Government of Saudi Arabia and others.
